tried to do that,” Donovan said. “The one thing about Josh is the flexibility when we play against teams that are a little bigger โ he can play against some of these bigger forwards, too. Heโs pretty physical there.”
Coby White’s Injury Update
Coby White sat out against Denver after playing 30 minutes in a double overtime loss to Utah on Sunday. He is hopeful that the medical staff will lift his minutes limit and back-to-back restrictions by Thanksgiving, according to Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times. “The first half , I was pretty tired,” White said. “I was a little winded. Second half, I started getting my wind.
My legs felt a little heavy, so thatโs why some of my shots were short.”
White has been sidelined by a calf strain and is grateful for the praise from Coach Donovan: “That means a lot coming from a Hall of Fame coach,” he said to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Sports Network. “Thatโs my guy. I love Billy.”
Zach Collins’ Recovery Progress
Zach Collins underwent wrist surgery last month and may return to practice next week, according to Coach Donovan. Due to his recovery in a splint, Collins has lost mobility, flexibility, and strength, which he needs to regain before returning to game play.
“Because heโs been in the splint, heโs lost a lot of mobility, flexibility and strength, so heโs got to get that back,” Donovan said. “Iโm probably being a little eager and optimistic, but Iโm hoping he can get into practice in one of those days where we can have a contact practice. . . How long it will take to get his strength back to be able to go into a practice remains to be seen, but he can start doing things with his hand.”
Jevon Carter’s Performance
With Coby White and Tre Jones sitting out due to injury, Jevon Carter stepped up in the game against the Nuggets. He posted 15 points in 18 minutes of play, earning praise from Coach Donovan for his work ethic: “This guyโs work ethic is unbelievable. Heโs one of the hardest working people Iโve ever seen,” Donovan said.
Carter was grateful for the recognition and shared his feelings on social media: “That means a lot coming from a Hall of Fame coach.
Thatโs my guy. I love Billy,” he said to K.C. Johnson.
