The sale beats the previous record set in November by a jersey worn by A’ja Wilson during Games 1 and 2 of the 2025 WNBA Finals. This new record is not just about numbers; it’s a testament to the rising value of women’s sports memorabilia.

The MeiGray Group, known for photo-matching and authenticating game-worn jerseys, played a crucial role in this transaction. Barry Meisel, president of MeiGray, notes that their involvement is key: “We authenticated the jersey on-site, after the game, right off Paige’s back, photo-matched it.”

The record-breaking sale isn’t just an anomaly. Since April 2024, two Sabrina Ionescu jerseys have also fetched high prices: one from a game against Stephen Curry in the WNBA vs. NBA 3-point contest ($21,590) and another from media day to the end of six regular-season games ($20,875).

According to Meisel: “We’re seeing, across women’s sports, an appetite for game-worn women’s relics. The interest is robust, it’s growing, and it’s not speculative anymore.”
