New York Giants Running Back Tyrone Tracy Jr.: Struggling to Get Untracked

Tyrone Tracy Jr., the New York Giants’ rising star running back, is working hard to regain his footing after an injury sidelined him. The 23-year-old, who had a promising rookie season with 839 rushing yards, has struggled in recent games due to a partially dislocated shoulder.

Return from Injury

Tyler Tracy Jr.’s return last week was quiet, as he managed only four carries for six yards against the Philadelphia Eagles. His absence over the past two games has given rookie Cam Skattebo more playing time, with Skattebo contributing a season-high 98 rushing yards. However, Tracy is optimistic about his upcoming performance.

“When you have a shoulder dislocation coming back has to be slow just because you really don’t know what’s going to happen,” Tracy told the New York Post. “It’s really hard to recreate game-like hits and movements, because a lot of it is reactionary anyway. …Trying to get back in there slowly and understanding my shoulder was at risk. They didn’t want to do anything to compromise it.”

Struggles and Future Plans

The Giants hope that Tracy will be more involved in the running game this season, working alongside Skattebo as a 1-2 punch. Tracy’s return is crucial for the team, especially with key players like Darius Slayton out due to injury.

“I’m never gonna go out there 50 percent, that’s just not in my nature. I’m going to always give whatever I got,” Tracy emphasized. “If I’m out there I’m gonna be myself, 100 percent.” The plan is for Tracy to work his way back into the groove and share the load with Skattebo.

Team Dynamics and Upcoming Challenges

The Giants will face a tough challenge against the Denver Broncos this Sunday. The Broncos’ defense has been dominant, leading the league in sacks with 30. Defensive lineman Nik Bonitto is leading the charge, recording eight sacks since Week 12 of the 2023 season.

Tracy’s return to form will be crucial for the Giants as they aim to overcome these challenges. His ability to add a physical presence and experience to the running game could significantly impact the team’s performance in upcoming games.

With Tracy working his way back, fans and analysts alike are hopeful that he can contribute meaningfully to the Giants’ offense, potentially rekindling the success of his rookie season.
