The Countdown to Playoffs

The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) playoffs are heating up as teams across different divisions and regions prepare for their most crucial games of the season. The live scores for Week 11, which marks the start of playoff contention in Ohio, showcase a mix of familiar rivalries and potential upsets.

Mason vs Fairfield: A Rematch

In Division I, Region 4, Mason travels to Fairfield for what promises to be a tough matchup. Mason is on a two-game winning streak heading into this round, coming in with some confidence. Quarterback De’Angelo Birch has been the engine for the Comets, contributing significantly both as a rushing threat and in passing.

He finished fourth in the conference with 648 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

Defensively, Juana Bates II leads with six sacks, while Alex Brown finishes sixth in tackles with 88. Freshman Corrius Booker has also had a standout season, rushing for 576 yards and five touchdowns. Mason Wheeler adds another threat to the run game with 334 yards.

Quarterback Dominic Back leads the Indians’ offense, while Gabe Ross is solid defensively with 79 tackles. Although Fairfield slipped by Mason in their first meeting, they are favored this time around due to Mason’s recent performances and the potential for a grind-it-out game.

Turpin vs La Salle: Home Turf Advantage

Division II, Region 8 sees Turpin at No. 5 La Salle. The Spartans have had an impressive season in the ECC, finishing fifth. Their offense is multi-faceted with Luke Mileham throwing for 2,000 yards and 13 touchdowns, supported by reliable targets like Callan Poland (703 receiving yards) and Evan Overholser (687 receiving yards).

Mileham also contributes on the ground with 612 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

La Salle is battle-tested after going through the rigorous GCL South, where they are undefeated against everyone except their league foes. They narrowly lost to region 4’s top seed Elder in a tough game. Avier Carter leads as a dual-threat quarterback with 1,144 passing yards and 662 rushing yards, combined for 17 touchdowns.

David Malone is also a significant contributor on the ground with 475 yards.

La Salle’s defense has been key this season, with Colin Wooldridge and Rodney Portis making plays all over the field. Bet on the Lancers to take care of business at home, given their home-field advantage and recent form against tough opponents.

Roger Bacon vs Wyoming: Roll or Fall

In Division IV, Region 16, Roger Bacon faces off against Wyoming in a matchup that could define the region. Roger Bacon finished .500 this season with an up-and-down performance. Bubba Smart has been their leader at quarterback, throwing for 1,417 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Evan Otto is his main target on the receiving end.

Wyoming comes into the game after a six-game win streak, scoring 42 or more points in every one of those games. David Dupee has thrown for 1,797 yards and 22 touchdowns. Brylan Miltonberger has been a reliable receiver with 678 yards, while Jackson Hamilton gets things done on both sides of the ball, rushing for 801 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Defensively, he has 78 tackles.

Gabe Ross leads the defense with 79 tackles, while Max Hoffman adds another layer of security with his 72 tackles. Bet on Wyoming to roll at home based on their recent momentum and strength in both offense and defense.

Mariemont vs North College Hill: A Close Call

Division V, Region 20 features Mariemont against North College Hill, a matchup where an upset is brewing. Zachary Maier has thrown for 1,089 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Warriors. The defensive personnel on both sides of the ball has been impressive all season long.

Lincoln Griesmer leads with 120 tackles, while Jack Simpson (15) and Ryan Kreutz (6) have been key in the secondary with their sack capabilities.

North College Hill is well-rounded as well, with Ar’Neil Khar throwing for 2,119 yards and 18 touchdowns. Cornelius Spiller rushes for 1,039 yards and seven touchdowns, while Jai’Veon Allen is a deep threat with 1,026 receiving yards and seven TDs. Defensively, Anthony Branch has been spectacular with 114 tackles and 15.5 sacks.

Despite the strong defensive play, Mariemont is favored to pull off an upset due to their recent form and key offensive contributions. The game promises to be a battle between two well-rounded teams in Division V.
