The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) is set to witness a historic encounter between the LG Twins and the Hanwha Eagles, who will face off in this year’s Korean Series. The series, known for its thrilling moments and intense competition, will feature two teams with rich histories but divergent recent trajectories.
The Twins secured their berth by finishing atop the KBO standings, while the Eagles made a triumphant return to the championship round after an 18-year hiatus. The Twins have enjoyed success in recent years, winning three titles and last securing the top prize two years ago against the KT Wiz. In contrast, the Eagles haven’t won since their 1999 triumph over the Lotte Giants.
Twins’ Roster and Key Players
The Twins will kick off the series with home field advantage at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Sunday, October 26. Their roster is packed with talent, including first baseman Austin Dean, who finished fifth in the league with 31 home runs. Despite his recent daughter’s birth, Dean has decided to skip paternity leave to prepare for the Korean Series.
On the mound, the Twins are led by starters Yonny Chirinos and Im Chan-kyu.
Chirinos made 30 starts in 2025, posting a respectable 3.31 ERA with just five home runs allowed. Im, a first-round draft pick of the Twins in 2011, finished seventh amongst the KBO’s pitching leaders with a 3.03 ERA in 26 starts during the regular season.
Eagles’ Return to Glory
The Hanwha Eagles return to the Korean Series for the first time since 2006, marking their first championship appearance in 26 years. The team’s star player is corner infielder Roh Si-hwan, who led his squad with 32 home runs and recorded a strong performance against the Samsung Lions in the playoffs.
Starting pitcher Cody Ponce had an outstanding season for Hanwha, winning the pitching Triple Crown with 17 wins, a 1.89 ERA, and a KBO record 252 strikeouts. Additionally, Eagles reliever Moon Dong-ju was awarded Playoff MVP after throwing six scoreless innings in critical games.

The Korean Series is scheduled to run from October 26 to November 3, with the format being a best-of-seven series. The Twins will host Games 1, 3, 5, and 7 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul. Meanwhile, Hanwha’s home games are played at Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark.
