Breaking Ground with K-Pop Demon Hunters

You might think this is new, but… The world of music has just taken a giant leap into the future. KPop Demon Hunters, the K-pop trio that also tries and saves the world from evil (Golden), just made history at the Grammy Awards by becoming the first ever K-Pop song to win an award. Their hit single “The Inescapable” was performed by their fictional band Huntr/x, securing a spot in music history.

Grammy Firsts

And yet, it’s not just about them. The ceremony got underway with a series of early winners, including British stars Yungblud and FKA Twigs, as well as the Dalai Lama for his audiobook work and Aura V, who became the youngest ever Grammy recipient at eight years old.

Biggest Night in Music

But it’s Kendrick Lamar who has fans buzzing. The Compton rapper took home three awards before the main ceremony, including best rap song for “TV Off,” which could bode well for his chances in the night’s main category, album of the year. He faces strong competition from Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, and Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny, whose album “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” is tipped to become the first Spanish-language record to win album of the year.

Live Performances and Premieres

The premiere ceremony itself promises a star-studded lineup. Zara Larsson will perform her single “Midnight Sun,” while FKA Twigs won two prizes for “Folded,” including best R&B performance. Kehlani, another winner of the night, was first to address political unrest in the US, dedicating one of her awards to her aunt.

Awards Night Extravaganza

So here we are at the 2026 Grammys, where every year feels like a new era. The main ceremony kicks off tonight at 5:30pm Los Angeles time / 01:30am on Monday in the UK. Stay tuned for updates as the night unfolds.
