New Leadership for Washington State Football
As the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl approaches, Jesse Bobbit remains optimistic about the future of Washington State University (WSU) football under new head coach Kirby Moore. Bobbit, who will serve as interim head coach until Monday’s game concludes, has had a few conversations with Moore and is confident in his abilities.
“I have had a couple of conversations with Coach Moore,” said Bobbit. “He seems like a great dude, and I know that Washington State is in good hands with him. They’re going to have success moving forward.”
Seniors Reflect on the Bowl Experience
QB Zevi Eckhaus and safety Tucker Large, both seniors, shared their thoughts as they prepare for one last game together before leaving WSU football. Eckhaus highlighted the unpredictability of college football seasons but emphasized staying true to personal morals and striving to be the best player possible.
“Definitely been a wild ride,” said Eckhaus. “When it comes to college football, you always have expectations, and it’s good to have them. But it’s also important to understand that things might not always align as expected.”
Large echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of being true to oneself and the team:
“This bowl has been going on for 25 years or so,” said Large. “Being a part of history like that is always cool.
Just being a senior this year, knowing it’s my last game ever, just putting it all on the field, I think.”
Eckhaus added his thoughts on the significance of their final bowl game and the team’s resilience:
“This wasn’t promised for us going into that last game,” said Eckhaus. “We still had to win one to be here. So just proud of the team, their ability to fight through everything this season, all the ups and downs, giving us one more opportunity to be together.”
Preparation for the Bowl Game
The players took some time to enjoy the bowl environment, with Bobbit recalling the fun activities they engaged in:
“I don’t know if any of us really knew what to expect with the whole sledding experience,” said Bobbit. “But that was awesome, taking that first leap, going head first down that thing, pile-ups at the bottom. It was a blast. No one got hurt, but it was a blast.”
The team also enjoyed some local cuisine:
“Last night, we went to a hibachi restaurant,” said Eckhaus. “Got some good food.
That was kind of fun. Our chef was doing some crazy tricks and whatnot.”
Meanwhile, the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will air on Monday at 11 a.m. Pacific time on ESPN, marking a crucial game for Washington State as they prepare to welcome Kirby Moore as their new head coach.
The players’ reflections highlight the emotional journey of their final season and the excitement surrounding the upcoming change in leadership. As Bobbit steps aside and Moore takes over, both players and coaches look forward to what lies ahead under his guidance.
