Cam Little’s Struggles in Jacksonville
In their recent game against the Los Angeles Rams, the Jacksonville Jaguars faced a 35-7 defeat that seemed to highlight several issues within the team. One of those issues was the performance of kicker Cam Little, who had already missed four field goals through seven games of the season.
Missed Opportunities and Coach’s Decisions
Little’s struggles were on full display during the game at Wembley Stadium in London. After failing to convert a 50-yard field goal attempt that would have reduced the Rams’ lead, the Jaguars faced an immediate 21-0 deficit. Head coach Liam Coen made strategic decisions to go for it on fourth down three times, but these attempts ultimately failed.
Bye Week as a Reset
The bye week in Week 8 came at a crucial time for Little. Special Teams Coordinator Heath Farwell explained that the break allowed the kicker to reconnect with his roots and refocus on his skills. “We get an opportunity, the bye week came at a perfect time for him,” said Farwell. Little spent this time practicing on his old goalpost in Oklahoma City, aiming to regain his form.
Coach’s Support and Future Outlook
Farwell emphasized that Little is a young specialist who will likely experience such rough patches throughout his career. “This is part of his process as a young kicker,” he stated. “You hate to see it happen, but this is just part of the journey.” Coen echoed Farwell’s sentiment, expressing confidence in Little’s ability to bounce back: “We’re going to work through it with him. It’s a cool time for him to kind of work through it with the bye week, get extra time to do it, and I’m excited. I’m fired up to see him kick on Sunday.”
