Gerry Turner’s Ex-Wife Alleges Dark Joke Before Short-lived Marriage
In an exclusive podcast interview, Theresa Nist, ex-wife of reality TV star Gerry Turner, claims he made a disturbing joke about chopping her up and hiding her body in a shed during their three-month marriage. The incident is detailed on the Nov. 4 episode of “Dear Shandy.”
Turner’s Controversial Comments
“We took a walk around this lake called Pretty Lake and we were coming to the end of it and he said — this is really bizarre — He said, ‘You see that shed up there?’” Nist recounted. “I said, ‘Yeah.’ He said, ‘Well, that’s where I’m going to hide your body after I kill you and chop you up, and he wasn’t laughing. I said, ‘Well, if this was his idea of a joke, that was pretty dark humor.'”
Nist’s Reflections on the Marriage
“I just felt like there was animosity in that statement that was underlying,” Nist said. “Like, maybe if he could have gotten rid of me somehow.” She added that she did not believe Turner would actually kill her but acknowledged it reflected an underlying tension between them.
Turner’s New Memoir and His Perspective
In his new memoir “Golden Years: What I’ve Learned from Love, Loss, and Reality TV,” Turner admits the marriage was a “monumental mistake” and that he regretted rushing into it. “I do admit that it was a monumental mistake, but it’s always easy to have 20/20 hindsight,” Turner told Fox News Digital ahead of the book’s release on Nov. 4.
Turner explained his feelings of being hurt by Nist and his family as well as his own imperfections during their marriage. “I think that I hurt Theresa, I hurt my family. There were a lot of things that I was so imperfect about,” he said. However, Turner defends the decision to proceed with the wedding, stating it was a gradual march toward the end.
Divorce and Future Plans
Turner and Nist finalized their divorce in June 2024 after Turner filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences.” The couple married on Jan. 4, 2024, in a televised ceremony titled “The Golden Wedding.”
Since the split, both parties have moved forward with new relationships and lifestyles. Turner is now engaged to Lana Sutton, while Nist remains focused on her career and personal growth.
Despite their disagreement, Nist hopes to maintain respect for Turner in public discourse, stating, “I didn’t want to be saying any of these things, I just felt forced.” She admitted that the book by Turner has compelled her to speak out about their marriage.
