Tragic Circumstances of the Incident

The loss of a fellow firefighter is deeply felt within the FDNY community. Fire officials noted that Brady’s death marked the second line-of-duty loss within two weeks for FDNY. The previous tragic incident involved Paramedic Salih Abdur Rahman, who died after finishing a shift at the FDNY Fire Academy on Randall’s Island on Oct. 29, 2025.

Patrick Brady’s sacrifice is not only remembered by his colleagues but also by his family, which includes four brothers who are either retired or active firefighters. This close-knit fire department family has a history of service, with Brady coming from a lineage dedicated to protecting the lives of New Yorkers.
“Firefighter Brady died at a fire in Brownsville, Brooklyn, carrying out the greatest traditions of the FDNY,” stated First Deputy Fire Commissioner Mark Guerra. “He comes from a great fire department family. I ask you to keep in mind his entire family, the FDNY family, and very importantly the officers and members of the companies that he was at work with tonight when he lost his life protecting the citizens of the City of New York.”
