The Breakdown of a High-Profile Marriage
Actress Lori Loughlin has ended her 28-year marriage to fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli after discovering “incriminating” texts and emails on his phone, according to a friend of the star. This news comes as Loughlin and Giannulli were already grappling with their roles in the Varsity Blues college admissions scandal.
A Scandal Comes to Light
Loughlin and Giannulli served prison time after they admitted to paying $500,000 to a fixer to help their daughters gain admission to the University of Southern California. Their daughters, Olivia Jade (now 26) and Isabella Giannulli (27), were falsely portrayed as rowing recruits. The Varsity Blues scandal, which involved wealthy parents paying for fake athletic credentials, rocked the higher education community in 2019.
“Truly, the tipping point came when Lori found a bunch of text messages,” said a close friend quoted by Page Six. “Mossimo had used Lori for years,” the friend continued, adding that Loughlin was hoping Giannulli might change after his release from prison but instead got worse.
The Split and Its Aftermath
Giannulli was seen with stylist Hannah Harrison at his G/FORE Supply store in Beverly Hills just hours after the split was announced. Harrison, however, insisted they had merely met up to go shopping. Loughlin, on the other hand, has been living in their family home in Hidden Hills, California, which is now listed for $14.95 million—down from its initial listing price of $16.5 million.
“Every day, we’re met with different obstacles,” Loughlin told a First for Women Magazine cover story last year. “But, for me, it’s like that song says, ‘I get knocked down, but I get up again.'” Despite the challenges, Loughlin and her daughters are standing firm in their support of each other.
Support System and Future Outlook
Loughlin has received backing from friends such as James Tupper, with whom she starred in movies like “Fall Into Winter” and “Blessings of Christmas.” The actress is currently residing in the family home in Hidden Hills. While Giannulli has been spending time between Orange County and their house in Idaho, he has not spoken publicly about his situation.
The Varsity Blues scandal remains a sensitive topic for both Loughlin and Giannulli. However, as they navigate this new chapter of their lives, the support from loved ones is crucial. The future implications of this divorce could extend beyond personal life; it may also impact how celebrity relationships are perceived in the public eye.
