Reigniting the Rivalry: Kentucky vs. Louisville on November 10, 2025
The University of Kentucky Wildcats are set to face off against their longtime rivals from the University of Louisville Cardinals in a highly anticipated matchup at Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY, on Tuesday night, November 10, 2025. This game marks a pivotal moment in both programs’ non-conference schedules and aims to reignite one of the most storied rivalries in college basketball.
Senior Forward Otega Oweh Reflects on the Rivalry
Otega Oweh, a senior forward for Kentucky, shared his thoughts on the upcoming game. “It was a great environment last season when we played at home,” said Oweh. “The red versus blue is really cool.” He remembered one particular moment from their previous encounter, noting how teammate Brandon Garrison got caught up in the Louisville bench area during the game.
“I would say (Brandon Garrison), when he was in the fire at their bench,” Oweh explained. “We were just all out there together.” As a senior, Oweh has been through many hostile environments and is well-prepared for this challenge. He emphasized that they must rely on each other: “In situations like that, you have just got to look at your teammates and look at the people who are going to work with you. Championship teams do well on the road.”
A Tough Non-Conference Schedule
Kentucky faces a daunting non-conference schedule this year, highlighted by games against Michigan State, Gonzaga, North Carolina, Indiana, and St. John’s. This tough slate begins with their first true road game of the season on Tuesday night when they travel to Louisville.
Mark Pope’s Kentucky team is off to a strong start, dominating Valparaiso in their previous game with a 107-59 victory.
Malachi Moreno recorded his first collegiate double-double, leading the Wildcats with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Garrison and Denzel Aberdeen both had perfect shooting nights as well.
Historic Rivalry: Kentucky vs. Louisville
The two premier programs of the Bluegrass State have a rich history dating back to 1913, with combined wins surpassing 4,000 and multiple national championships between them. The all-time series favors Kentucky, which leads the series 40-17.
This matchup is particularly significant as it will be the first Kentucky-Louisville game in November since 1993 and the earliest in the month that the teams have ever played against each other. Additionally, both schools are ranked inside the AP Top 25 for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
With a star-studded non-conference schedule ahead, Kentucky’s success hinges on their ability to perform well in these early games, especially away from home. The Wildcats know that every game counts as they aim to make an impact this season.
