New Holographic Experience Brings Movie Stars to Dallas Cinemas
Movie enthusiasts in Dallas and other cities across the United States will soon have a unique opportunity to interact with their favorite actors without leaving the comfort of their seats. Starting on November 14, Cinemark theaters are rolling out an innovative hologram technology that allows moviegoers at select screenings of “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” to take selfies with virtual representations of the film’s stars.
The promotion is a first-of-its-kind in the U.S., leveraging advanced holographic technology by Proto Hologram, which has partnered with Lionsgate, the movie’s distributor. According to David Nussbaum, founder and chairman of Proto Hologram, this marks “a new milestone for holographic experiences in cinemas.” At 14 designated theaters, including Cinemark Dallas XD and IMAX at 11819 Webb Chapel Road, moviegoers will find themselves face-to-face with the illusionist characters played by actors Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Justice Smith, and Ariana Greenblatt.
During these special screenings, holograms of the stars will be seen using their own cell phones to take selfies with audience members.
Attendees can download these images via QR codes provided by Lionsgate. Kevin Grayson, president of Worldwide Distribution for Lionsgate, emphasized that this technology offers a magical anticipation for the film’s release: “This amazing technology borders on magic, so there’s no better way to anticipate the release of ‘Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.'” He added, “Get your selfies with the cast now, before they disappear.”
The holographic experience is part of a larger marketing campaign for the highly anticipated sequel. In “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” the Four Horsemen—Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Franco, and Fisher—are back to unite with a new generation of illusionists (Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Greenblatt) in their most global, high-stakes adventure yet.
The mission is to expose the corruption of Veronika Vanderberg (Rosamund Pike), a powerful diamond heiress with ties to arms dealers, traffickers, and warlords. Aided by the legendary Thaddeus (Morgan Freeman), the two generations of magicians must overcome their differences to defeat their cunning adversary.
The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith and Michael Lesslie & Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese, with a story by Eric Warren Singer. The characters are based on creations by Boaz Yakin & Edward Ricourt.
Produced by Alex Kurtzman (PGA), Roberto Orci, and Bobby Cohen (PGA), “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” promises to deliver “the franchise’s signature twists, turns, and thrilling reveals—along with what Lionsgate calls ‘some of the most thrilling illusions ever captured on film.’”
While Dallas Cinemark is hosting this groundbreaking event, only one other theater in Texas will offer similar holographic experiences: Regal Mrq*E in Houston. This innovative marketing strategy is expected to create a buzz around the release of “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” encouraging moviegoers to experience the magic firsthand.
