Jamie Lee Curtis Speaks Out Against Donald Trump’s “Unacceptable” Behavior on This Morning
Hollywood star Jamie Lee Curtis delivered a powerful and emotional speech during her appearance on ITV’s This Morning. Curtis, 67, shed tears as she recalled receiving a letter from the late Princess Diana, expressing admiration for the royal’s example.
Meeting with Princess Diana
In her touching account, Curtis shared that during a visit to the set of the 1997 film Fierce Creatures, which was the “awful sequel” to A Fish Called Wanda, she and her then-young sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, narrowly missed meeting Princess Diana. She wrote the late princess a letter, which was promptly replied to two days later.
Comparing Modern Leaders with Princess Diana
“She was an extraordinary person,” Curtis said, visibly emotional as she made comparisons between Princess Diana and the leaders of her country today. “Look at where I live, look at the example of the people leading my country and the hatred that they feel.” The actress went on to criticize recent footage showing US President Donald Trump’s “unacceptable” behavior towards a female reporter, describing it as “vile.” She stated, “I think that unhinged moment of his abuse and vile behaviour is going to be his undoing.”
Grace and Dignity
Curtis also praised the current Princess of Wales for her “grace, dignity, kindness, and generosity.” The actress appeared on This Morning to promote her new film, Ella McCay, which co-stars Emma Mackey. She expressed admiration for director James L Brooks, saying he “has a beautiful talent for capturing reality in families, making it what life is – funny, moving, infuriating – all of it.”
Concerns About Social Media
In her discussion about the dangers of social media, Curtis emphasized that it has become an “epidemic.” She advocated for schools to ban smartphones and highlighted how concerned she is about its impact on children. “We all have to be very, very, very, very, very, very concerned about social media for our children,” she said.
Throughout the interview, Curtis maintained a professional yet heartfelt tone, drawing parallels between past and present leaders while addressing contemporary issues with honesty and conviction. Her appearance on This Morning serves as a poignant reminder of her continued involvement in public discourse and advocacy for positive change.
