New EV Rental Deal Boosts Lucid’s Presence in Saudi Arabia

Lucid Motors has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) rental business overseas by partnering with Sixt in Saudi Arabia. This move marks a significant step for the American luxury EV manufacturer, as it aims to enhance its global footprint and cater to growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions.

Partnership with Sixt

The partnership between Lucid Motors and Sixt is part of an ongoing initiative by Lucid to provide luxury mobility options in key international markets. On November 13, 2025, Lucid announced the deal on its social media channels, stating that it would “make it easy to access luxury mobility.” The Lucid Air model is currently available for rental from Sixt in Saudi Arabia, with plans to introduce the Gravity SUV shortly.

Strategic Moves and Future Plans

This new partnership builds on previous agreements made by Lucid Motors. In 2022, the company secured an arrangement with Saudi Arabia to sell up to 100,000 electric vehicles. Additionally, Lucid opened its first overseas manufacturing plant in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the following year.

At present, Lucid is still shipping vehicles from its Casa Grande, Arizona facility for final assembly at the KAEC plant.

Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff stated on the company’s third-quarter earnings call that Lucid was delivering vehicles to Saudi Arabia under this arrangement and expected higher deliveries in 2026 with the ramp-up of Gravity production. The Gravity SUV is anticipated to play a crucial role in expanding Lucid’s rental fleet.

Financial Implications

The availability of Lucid Air for rental provides an additional revenue stream for both Lucid and Sixt, aligning their businesses with the global trend towards electric mobility. According to Sixt’s website, renting a Lucid Air Touring from Riyadh Airport costs approximately 1,228 Saudi riyals ($327) per day, including 1,000 km of driving. This is competitive with other premium EV options like the Tesla Model 3.

Future Aspirations

Lucid’s plan to fully assemble vehicles at its KAEC plant next year marks a pivotal moment in the company’s expansion strategy. With an anticipated addition of 150,000 vehicles annually, Lucid aims to significantly boost its production capacity and streamline operations for more efficient delivery.

The partnership with Sixt and the introduction of the Gravity SUV into the rental fleet represent strategic steps towards realizing Lucid’s vision of becoming a global leader in luxury EVs. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, companies like Lucid are at the forefront of driving change and innovation.
